Being a beauty therapist, no two working days are the same. You never know what you are going to face! From seeing different clients, providing different treatments and having different hurdles to overcome. This is what makes our job so amazing, itβs never ever boring!
We always start our day by touching base all together to discuss the day ahead. Our amazing Emily, who runs our front of house, will have already opened up about an hour prior to our arrival. This means that the salon is all set up and ready for our lovely clients to arrive and any telephone calls dealt with. Emily can then inform us on any changes to our day or let us know any important information about our clients treatments. This is also time for us girls to catch up with each other and make sure everyone is ready for the day ahead. This is normally the only time we all get a chance to see each other as we quite often donβt get another chance until the end of the day!
Before every client we have a strict protocol to check all client consultation and medical forms have been filled out. This is just to make sure there are no changes since they last visited us and to make sure they are suitable to have their treatment without any risks. As soon as this is done we then take them straight through into the treatment area.
Being a therapist you have to be very time efficient. You are back to back with clients all day so being good at time keeping is a must…without rushing. Some days flow really smoothly and others there may be something that can set you back. But with the help from Emily coordinating us all, it will always get resolved.Β
Our day flies by when we are having a good catch up with all our regular clients who it’s always such a pleasure to see! Some of our regular clients really do become our friends, not just clients, as we spend time with them every 3 or 4 weeks, (and sometimes weekly!). We get to know people on such a personal level, whether this be hearing about their families, their job or their plans for the year ahead etc. For some people, coming to see us can be an escape from the real world and giving them some time to focus on themselves which is really important. Giving that person 100% of our attention and time results in building these bonds we have with our clients.Β
Towards the end of the day we can start to close down certain treatment areas that are no longer going to be used. After our last clients have left, this is where us girls all come back together again to make sure the whole salon is clean and tidy ready for us to do it all over again the next day! After this we discuss how our days have been and if we have anything important we need to discuss together and have a debrief. Although we are all doing our own treatments during the day, we are still a team and it is important we all support each other and are aware of everything going on in the salon.
Quite often us girls like to have a catch up after work with a drink or two down at Pavilion. We love spending time outside of work together, as iβm sure you all see on our instagram, and it’s safe to say we are all really missing being able to do this after a busy day at work seeing all our lovely clients!
